COUNCIL OF NEIGHBOR ISLAND ADVISORS - LANA`I

 


The Council of Neighbor Island Advisors - Lana`i helps the Lingle-Aiona Administration identify issues of importance to the community and recommends ways to improve state government and enhance the quality of life for all Hawai`i residents.  The Council is tasked with providing the Governor with a list of short- and long-term issues and goals that should be addressed by state government.  The Council is also responsible for identifying spending priorities and potential new sources of revenue for the state, as well as recommending potential nominees from the neighbor islands to serve on state boards and commissions.

Governor Linda Lingle appointed five volunteers to serve on the Lana`i Community Advisory Council.  The members include individuals with expertise in business, education, native Hawaiian issues, social services, arts and culture, energy, agriculture and the environment. 

 

Council of Neighbor Island Advisors – Lāna‘i

Christine Costales – Lāna‘i endangered species field technician, Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit, Research Center for the University of Hawai‘i. Past experience: conservation program coordinator, Castle & Cooke Resorts, LLC; executive director, The Lāna‘i Youth Center; administrative assistant, Hale Makua Skilled Nursing Facility; patient financial assistant, Maui Memorial Hospital.

Darlene Endrina – President and manager, L.D. Productions; owner, instructor, Personal Development Seminars. Past experience: president, general manager, and travel consultant, Travel by Darlene, Inc.; general manager and travel consultant, Travel Bookings/Davis Travel Tours.

Robin Kaye – Retired.  Past experience: consultant, and director of art services for Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts; director of state and local interagency arts programs for California Arts Council; consultant for Lāna‘i Photographic Documentary Project on the lifestyle of the Pineapple Island.

Matthew Mano (chair) – Wastewater treatment plant worker, County of Maui.

Douglas Rolefson – Supervisor, Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration, Lāna‘i Airport; owner, Bridgeport Benefits of Hawai‘i, Inc.  Past experience: vice president, First Health Strategies.


Public Meetings
The Council of Neighbor Island Advisors - Lana`i holds public meetings on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 5:00 p.m.

Lana`i City

Guest speakers from the community, including members of the Governor’s cabinet, provide the Council with updates on issues of interest and concern.  The public is invited to attend the meetings, provide testimony and ask questions.
