For Immediate Release: February 14, 2008
HONOLULU – Governor Linda Lingle has released $792,320 to replace the roof of the Sinclair Building at Lē‘ahi Hospital, which is one of two public health facilities on O‘ahu overseen by the Hawai‘i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC).
“Upkeep of our community hospital facilities is necessary to ensure safe and efficient hospital operations,” said Governor Lingle. “These improvements at Lē‘ahi Hospital will benefit building tenants, patients and hospital staff.”
The Sinclair Building’s current metal roof decking is corroded and leaking, including into office space occupied by staff from the Kap‘iolani Community College School of Nursing and the state Department of Health.
Governor Lingle previously released $221,680 in design and construction funds. Construction is scheduled to begin in May 2008 and be completed in May 2009.
