For Immediate Release: January 10, 2008
HONOLULU – Governor Linda Lingle has released $495,000 for accessibility improvements at Mountain View Public and School Library on the Big Island. The funds will also cover health and safety improvements at the library, which is located on the Mountain View Elementary School campus.
“The Mountain View Public and School Library is vital because it serves elementary school students and the larger East Hawai‘i community,” said Governor Lingle. “This project will ensure that the library is safer and more accessible for patrons of all ages and interests.”
The Mountain View Public and School Library is one of 13 public libraries on the Big Island. Project funds will be used for improvements to sidewalks, ramps, restrooms and the parking lot to make the library more accessible for patrons who are disabled. In addition, improvements to the fire alarm system and emergency lighting will be made to protect the health and safety of library users and staff.
Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2008 and be completed in September 2008.
