February 14, 2008 - Turtle Bay: Gathering Community Input
Click here to listen to this address.
"Since I introduced the idea that the State of Hawai`i purchase the 850-acre Turtle Bay property, including five miles of pristine coastline on O`ahu's North Shore, we have seen incredible community support for the plan.
In a legislative hearing this past week, the Senate heard testimony that was overwhelmingly in support of preserving this important land for Hawai`i's future, and the bill was passed out of committee.
To ensure all members of the community are able to voice their opinion, I will be holding a talk story session on Tuesday, March 4th, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., at Kahuku High School.
I invite you to attend this public forum to ensure your voice is heard. You can also share your opinion by contacting your state legislators and my office.
Together, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity, and an obligation to preserve this treasure."
