July 10, 2008 - Constitutional Convention

"On November 4, you will have the opportunity to vote for, or against the ballot question, "Shall there be a convention to propose a revision of, or amendments to, the State Constitution?"
It is one of the most important decisions facing Hawai`i voters this year.
Several long-standing issues can be addressed by our citizens at a constitutional convention, including restructuring the public education system and expanding legislative options, such as public initiative and referendum.
Ultimately, it is up to the people of Hawai`i to decide.
To make sure you have accurate and credible information on this question, I am leading an 11-member non-partisan task force to study the costs of a constitutional convention. The task force will make its findings available no later than August 1.
