This week, Governor Lingle and I will make separate trips to Asia to promote travel to Hawai`i, meet with key leaders in the Asia visitor industry, seek increases in flights from Asia and expand opportunities for business investments and partnerships. Our stops will include Korea, Japan, Taiwan and China.

This focus on additional tourism outreach is just one step in our comprehensive, five-point action plan to stimulate Hawai`i's economy. The other tenets of the five-point plan include investing in our infrastructure and capital improvements, lowering business fees and providing tax relief, attracting private investment to Hawai`i – especially in renewable energy and technology, and maximizing federal dollars and partnerships.

By working together with the legislature and businesses statewide, we will improve the current economic climate and remain competitive in the 21st century global economy.
