New Photovoltaic Power Systems to Save Taxpayers Thousands in Energy Costs
The DOT joined Hoku Solar, a subsidiary of Hoku Scientific, in dedicating a solar, photovoltaic power system at Lihue Airport. This PV system is one of seven DOT facilities across the state that comprise the DOT's Photovoltaic Energy Systems Project. State DOT Begins Land Acquisition Agreement with Grove Farm
State Department of Transportation (DOT) Director, Brennon Morioka, and Senior Vice President Michael Tresler of Grove Farm Company today signed an agreement in which the State will purchase approximately 70 acres of land within the Ahukini Makai portion of the Wailani Master Plan in Lihue, Kauai.
The agreement will allow both parties to continue negotiations and explore possibilities for the purchase of parcels of land that will provide for the future expansion of the Lihue Airport. Additionally, this partnership will provide for expanded facilities for aeronautical businesses at the Lihue Airport to include improved infrastructure, new water sources, and improvements to Kapule Highway.
