June is milk month!! Ed Boteilho, Jr. of family-run Clover Leaf Dairy on the Big Island flew over to talk about Island Fresh milk. Derek Kurisu from the Big Island's KTA Superstores also had fun with recipes using products produced on Hawaii Island.

Ho Farms in Kahuku showcased its specialty tomatoes on the KITV Morning Show this month. The farm also grows long squash, long beans and Japanese cucumbers.

One of Hawaii's new developing diversified crops is tea. Research into tea production began on the Big Island several years ago and interest in tea growing is blooming.

Did you know that there are 200 different varieties of avocado grown in Hawaii? Just ask farmer Ken Love of the Love Family Farm in Kona. Ken is working with the UH College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR) and the Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers Association to conduct some research to determine consumer preference and the KITV Morning Show helped to spread the word.

GOOD MORNING FROM HAU`ULA!!! KITV's Mahealani Richardson made an early call with Hau`ula farmer Terry Shintaku who grows tasty hydroponic tomatoes. The live segments at the farm showed how these special tomatoes are grown without soil.

During the summer months, the BUY FRESH - BUY LOCAL segments will be going live from a Hawaii farm. This month features Sumida Farms, which provide about 75% of the watercress grown in the state.

This month's segment features Twin Bridge Farms, which covers 250 acres of former Waialua Sugar Company land on Oahu. The farm is most famous for its tasty and tender asparagus. Partners Milton Agader and Al Medrano also grow tomatoes, potatoes, onions, papaya and seed crops such as corn and sunflower.
