September 2007
The HMSA Island Fresh Festival, which promotes healthy lifestyles and island-grown fruits and vegetables, was the subject of this month's Buy Fresh, Buy Local segment.
| Alec Sou of Aloun Farms show KITV Morning Show viewers some of the
produce that would be available at the HMSA Island Fresh Festival,
which was held on September 29th. |
| Dan tastes a slice of Aloun's new Sunburst melon, which is sweet
and juicy. |
| Desmond Ogata, one of the "Plant Doctors" at the UH College of
Tropical Agriculture & Human Resources, inform viewers about the
papaya mealybug which is infesting local plumeria trees and papaya
plants. Ogata was quite busy at the festival
answering plant questions from the public. |
| At the festival, HDOA and UH-CTAHR sponsored the Keiki Farmers
Potting Activity, where kids could plant seeds in milk cartons and take
them home to plant. |
