Protecting Hawaii from Animal Diseases

HDOA's Animal Industry Division helps protect the health of animals in the state.

The Livestock Disease Control Branch inspects incoming domesticated animals, such as pigs, poultry & birds, cattle, horses, sheep, goats and more to help ensure that animal diseases are not brought into the state.  The branch also monitors the health of animals in Hawaii. The photo above is of HDOA veterinarian Dr. Kim Kozuma conducting routine disease surveillance at a livestock farm on Hawai`i Island.
