Bee Mite Surveys
HDOA staff around the state conduct bee mite surveys statewide to help keep the varroa mite from becoming established in non-infested areas.
HDOA's Plant Pest Control Branch, Plant Quarantine Branch and Pesticides Branch are working to manage the varroa mite infestation on O`ahu and attempting to eradicate the mite from Hawai`i Island. The varroa mite is a devastating pest of the honey bee and was first reported on O`ahu in May 2006.
