Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR)

To meet requirements, an eligible hospital must perform at least one test of the certified EHR technology’s capacity to submit electronic data on reportable lab results with continued submission if successful. Laboratory results for reportable conditions are received and processed by the Electronic Communicable Disease Reporting System (ECDRS) at the HDOH. To qualify for meaningful use, the reportable lab results should be sent in HL7 2.5.1 data exchange format and incorporate LOINC (Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes) version 2.27 codes and SNOMED codes. For more information on ELR reporting, contact Steve Sakamoto at steve.sakamoto@doh.hawaii.gov
