Influenza Surveillance Report
February 10 – February 16, 2013: Week 7

During week 7 of the 2012–13 influenza year, 3.7% of outpatient visits to Hawaii sentinel providers were attributable to ILI . Hawaii’s ILI outpatient visits were higher than the national baseline (2.2%)4 but comparable to the national ILI (2.8%) (i.e., inside the 95% confidence interval).

The chart below displays the total volume of specimens tested for influenza by MMWR week during the 2012-13 influenza season, as well as the sub-set receiving confirmatory testing. Proportion of specimens positive for influenza viruses by type and sub-type is only presented for specimens tested by confirmatory tests (i.e., RT-PCR or viral culture).
