The Department of Health’s (DOH) Tuberculosis Control Program
will relocate from the ground floor of Lanakila Health Center for
approximately 12 months during a complete renovation. The services and
offices of the Tuberculosis Control Program will be split temporarily
between two new locations, one at Leahi Hospital and the other at
Dillingham Plaza.
The Tuberculosis Control Program will be closed to the public for
one week to accommodate the move. Its doors will close at Lanakila
Health Center on Friday, February 8, 2002 at 4:30 PM, and will reopen
on Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at 7:45 AM at its two new locations.
Beginning Tuesday, February 19th, the general public can
go to Dillingham Plaza for tuberculosis skin tests. The DOH TB testing
clinic will be located on the second floor, above Savers. Dillingham
Plaza is located at 1505 Dillingham Boulevard in Kalihi. Ample free
parking is available. The public is also
encouraged to use other Public Health Nursing Clinics, such as Diamond
Head Health Center or Leeward Health Center, for tuberculosis skin
tests.
For chest x-rays, patients must go to Leahi Hospital. The TB chest
clinic will be located in the hospital’s outpatient services
clinic. Leahi Hospital is located at 3675 Kilauea Avenue in Kaimuki.
Parking is limited.
Please call 832-5731 to confirm the relocation and hours of services
at both Dillingham Plaza and Leahi Hospital.
The Tuberculosis Control Program cautions clients that delays and
increased waiting time may occur once the clinic reopens on February
19th. The renovated Lanakila Health Center location is
expected to reopen early 2003, with improved facilities.
As always, services offered by the DOH Tuberculosis Control Program
are free. These include TB skin tests, chest x-rays, TB evaluations and
medications.
