The Department of Health (DOH) has filed a complaint and order
against Chevron USA Inc. Hawaiian Refinery for alleged violations of
the state’s hazardous waste rules. The alleged violations
occurred at 91-480 Malakole Street Kapolei, Hawaii.
The DOH conducted routine hazardous waste inspections on March 22
and April 3, 2001. Based on these inspections, the DOH cited Chevron
Refinery with two counts:
- failure to make a hazardous waste determination and treating
hazardous waste without a permit and
- failure to properly complete the biennial report.
DOH has assessed a penalty of $37,000 against Chevron and has
ordered Chevron to comply with State hazardous waste rules for cited
violations according to a schedule established by the State.
Chevron has twenty days to respond to the order.
