HONOLULU - Reneau Kennedy, Ed.D. has been appointed Forensic
Director for the Department of Health, Adult Mental Health Division
(AMHD).
Dr. Kennedy is a practicing forensic psychologist licensed in Hawaii
and Massachusetts with more than twenty years of experience. She has
worked in state mental hospitals, state prisons, county jails, and also
in the private sector. Her work has involved forensic assessment,
consultation, administration, treatment, teaching, and research in the
United States, Papua New Guinea and Australia. Kennedy has also
testified as a forensic and clinical psychology expert witness in
federal, state, and military courts.
Dr. Kennedy understands the importance of the interface between law
enforcement, the courts, and mental health services. She advocates for
the necessity of balancing public safety considerations with effective
treatment strategies in order to provide mental health patients the
least restrictive environment for treatment and meaningful
rehabilitation.
Dr. Kennedy is a member of the Society for Personality Assessment,
American Psychological Association, Hawaii Psychological Association,
and Homicide Research Working Group.
