HONOLULU - The Department of Health, Environmental Health
Administration, will be sponsoring a public informational meeting
regarding the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Department
of Health (DOH) and the North West CruiseShip Association (NWCA). The
meeting will outline practices and procedures the cruise industry will
sustain to comply with Hawai`i’s unique environmental
standards.
The meeting will be held on December 11, from 6-8pm, in the
auditorium of the State Capitol. Parking is available in the basement
of the Capitol.
Laurence Lau, Deputy Director for Environmental Health, will open
with a presentation on the MOU and highlight changes recently proposed.
Following the presentation, representatives from the DOH, NWCA, and the
Coast Guard will be available for a question/answer session.
Informational exhibits regarding the MOU and other environmental
aspects of the cruise ship industry will be displayed as well.
Community organizations, other agencies, and interested members of the
public are welcome to attend and/or host an exhibit.
