TOOLS FOR LIFE EXPO 2004
TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE TO NEIGHBOR ISLAND RESIDENTS

HONOLULU – The Tools for Life 2004 EXPO will be held on Oahu, July 9-10, at the Blaisdell Exhibition Center. The Tools for Life EXPO 2004 is one of the biggest showcases on disabled assistive technology in Hawaii and is sponsored by the Hawai`i State Department of Health (DOH) Disabilities and Communication Access Board (DCAB) in partnership with government, private and community agencies.

DCAB is offering travel scholarships to neighbor island residents who would benefit by attending this educational event because it is important that all who can benefit from these workshops and exhibits are able to attend the EXPO. Approximately 30 travel scholarships for the "Tools for Life EXPO and Seminars" are available for neighbor island participants. Scholarships are for airfare only. Those interested in receiving a travel scholarship are encouraged to call DCAB at (808) 586-8121 for more information on where to get an application. Scholarship criteria are listed below.

The EXPO will provide information and hands-on displays of new technological tools, civil rights information, and assistive services to maximize independence in society. Exhibits will be FREE and open to the public. Hawai`i residents with disabilities, family members, advocates, and health service professionals are encouraged to attend this educational event.

Tools for Life 2004 EXPO is made possible by the leadership of the Hawaii State Department of Health – Disability and Communication Access Board (DCAB), Assistive Technology Resource Centers of Hawaii, and Aloha Special Technology Access Center. Sponsors of the EXPO include the Hawaii State Department of Health, State Department of Education, Developmental Disabilities Council, Easter Seal Society, PDMI Care Hawaii Centers for Independent Living, Center for Disability Studies, UH Manoa, and Access Aloha Travel.
