Accessible design elements in the courtrooms:
• The witnesses position is elevated and is accessed by a
concealed foldout ramp. When the ramp is not in use, the closed ramp forms a
step to access the platform.
• Where the courtroom has a two-tiered jury box, an accessible
juror position is located on the main floor level. The accessible position is
provided to accommodate a wheelchair. A low rail is provided at the front of the jury box. A portion of rail
located in front of the accessible position swings out to accommodate
maneuvering into the jury box. When the accessible position is not in use, a
movable seat is provided.
