Public Education Iniative for Accessible Parking | Go Back
Disability and Communication Access Board to Begin Public Education Initiative for Accessible Parking
As part of its strategy to encourage an appreciation for the rights of persons with disabilities, the Disability and Communication Access Board's Statewide Program on Parking is inaugurating an education initiative to prevent abuse of disability parking spaces. Starting this fall, a series of talks will be given to high school students in driver's education classes and to Hawaii civic organizations on the purposes for accessible parking spaces at public lots. By reaching out, the initiative will help to prevent abuse and will encourage an awareness of this issue in drivers young and old. Abuse of accessible parking is a chronic problem nationally and internationally.
If any group would like to have a 15-20 minute presentation, contact DCAB at (808) 586-8121.
