The Executive Office on Aging is dedicated to assuring the
well being of the more than 230,000 older adults who live in Hawaii as
well as their caregivers.
The State Licensing Section of the Office of Health Care Assurance is
responsible for promulgating licensing rules and developing standards
as required to ensure quality of care for certain community based
facilities, which must be licensed by the State, but not certified for
Medicare participation.
Medicare is a Health Insurance Program for people 65 years of age and
older, some disabled people under 65 years of age, and people with
End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure treated with dialysis
or a transplant). It is the nation's largest health insurance program,
covering nearly 40 million Americans.
