CALL FOR WATER QUALITY MONITORING DATA


Under §303(d) of the Federal Clean Water Act, the Department of Health (DOH), State of Hawaii, calls for any data that may be considered in the 2010 water quality monitoring and assessment reporting process.
Any persons who have data and information on the quality of surface waters in Hawaii are encouraged to submit these documents. Documents submitted should include contact information for the person(s) or organization(s) who collected the data. Criteria for assessment decisions can be found at the DOH–EPO website: http://www.state.hi.us/health/environmental/ env-planning/wqm/2004listingcriteriafinal.pdf
or by calling the EPO office.
Data to be considered for the 2010 reporting cycle should be submitted to the Environmental Planning Office no later than November 1, 2009. Any data received after this date will be considered during the next listing cycle.

About the Environmental Planning Office

Water Quality Management Program

This program is responsible for the development of long-range water quality management plans,
and makes recommendations to revisions to the existing Water Quality Management Plans for the
State of Hawaii. Program items include the following:

TMDL - Total Maximum Daily Loads
Stream Bioassessments
Bioassessment Protocols
303(d) List of Impaired Waters
Water Quality Standards

Goals and Indicators Program

In conjunction with other EHA offices, the Goals and Indicators program develops program goals
and performance indicators, coordinates with County, Federal and other State agencies, and sets
standards for baseline evaluation of environmental quality. Included under this program are:

Strategic Plan for Hawaii

Landuse Planning and Review Program

This program coordinates departmental evaluations on mitigative measures for proposed
developments statewide.
Available are downloadable standard comments to better prepare environmental impact
