An estimated 800 million beverage
containers are sold in Hawaii each year. Over 66 million containers are
sold every month. Most are discarded as trash or litter.
Recycle as many empty metal, glass
and/or plastic beverage containers for your school as possible from
November 1 - December 31, 2004. If every student in Hawaii recycled
1 beverage container a day, and asked 5 others to do the same, then in
one month they will recycle 34,380,000 beverage containers.
That’s over 50% of the waste beverage containers generated
monthly!
