New UST Rules - February 2000

The Department of Health (DOH) is seeking delegation of its underground storage tank program from the federal government. As part of the delegation process, DOH has adopted new State underground storage tank rules found in the Hawaii Administrative Rules. The adoption was effective January 28, 2000.

Paper copies of the official version of the rules may be obtained from the Underground Storage Tank Section of DOH at 586-4226 with the following charges:

  • 1st copy free
  • Additional copies are $5.00 each

An unofficial version of the new rules may be downloaded by clicking on the link below. This version has the same text as the official version but lacks the effective date stamps and the Governor's signature. There are also slight differences in format. This unofficial version is also available on 3.5" diskette for $3.00.

The State UST rules may not be copied or used for other than their intended purpose and may not be altered in any way.

DOH has prepared a document titled, "Comparison of State vs. Federal UST Requirements" which summarizes some of the differences between them and is included with each paper copy of the rules (click below to download).
