The purpose of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) is to create jobs, restore economic growth, and strengthen America's middle class through measures that modernize the nation's infrastructure, enhance America's energy independence, expand educational opportunities, preserve and improve affordable health care, provide tax relief, and protect those in greatest need, and for other purposes.
Approximately $30 million dollars may be appropriated to the Hawaii's Water Pollution Control Revolving Fund Program with priority given to fund ready to proceed projects to be constructed within 180 days of enactment. Funds may include additional subsidation including forgiveness of principal and negative interest loans; and 15% shall be designated for Green Infrastructure, Water Efficiency Improvements, & Other "Environmentally Innovative" Projects.
Hawaii's Water Pollution Control Revolving Fund Program is currently in the process of preparing for the additional funds that we may receive from the passage of this act. We are currently amending our Intended Use Plan and Integrated Priority List of Projects. A copy of our draft amendment to our IUP will be available soon on this website.
