The School-based Vaccination Program is an innovative partnership between the State of Hawaii Departments of Health
and Education, the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools and Hawaii Catholic Schools. It aims to improve the
health of Hawaii keiki, families and kupuna by preventing the spread of harmful influenza viruses.
Through the program, all children attending Hawaii elementary and middle schools will be offered FREE seasonal flu
vaccine at school, during the school day. Teachers and school staff can also receive the free vaccine. The program
is voluntary for schools and students. Vaccinations will begin in October 2009.
