How to Pick Up a Dead Bird
- Wear eye protection such as sunglasses, goggles, safety glasses.
- Use Double Bag Method or Disposal Gloves
- Complete one Reporting and Submission form for each bird.
- WASH HANDS WELL.
- Keep Bird Cool and take to designated drop-off point.
|Use rubber gloves when picking up dead birds. If gloves are not available, insert hand into a plastic bag.|
|Place each bird in a bag, tie shut then place inside a second bag and tie shut.|
|Complete a separate copy of the Reporting and Submission form for each bird. Place form in second bag.|

If it is not possible to drop off the bird the same day it is collected, the bird should be frozen or kept cool in a bucket with ice and turned in the following day.
