FURLOUGH IMPACT ON WIC

State buildings for three WIC clinics will be closed two designated furlough days each month. The Honolulu WIC clinic located near Restaurant Row, the Leeward WIC clinic located in the Waipahu Civic Center and the Windward WIC Clinic in Kaneohe were affected by the furloughs. Furlough days in 2009 are: October 23, October 30, November 20, November 27, December 24, and December 31. For a link to the full furlough schedule, click here: Schedule. The Program is investigating the possibility of alternate sites. All other WIC clinics run by Hawai‘i State Department of Health’s (DOH) Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program will operate with minimal staff. They include Wahiawa WIC, Hilo WIC, Kona WIC, Maui WIC and Kauai WIC. WIC clinics at community health centers or hospitals will operate with full staff. They include Kalihi Palama WIC, Kokua Kalihi Valley WIC, Waimanalo WIC, Kapiolani WIC, Waianae WIC, Community Clinic of Maui WIC, and Bay Clinic WIC.
