Please view the Proposed WIC Food List to see the new foods that are being added.

Effective October 1, 2009, the Hawaii WIC Program will offer fruits and vegetables, whole grains, new culturally appropriate options such as tofu, and baby food. The changes re-enforce key nutrition messages:

  1. Eat more fruits and vegetables.
  2. Eat more whole grains and fiber.
  3. Eat less saturated fat and cholesterol.
  4. Drink less juice and sweetened beverages.
  5. Babies are meant to be breastfed.
Hawaii's choices are subject to USDA approval; they were based on federal regulations, participant surveys, availability at WIC stores and costs. Send your comments to wic@doh.hawaii.gov.
