Starting October 23, 2009, most Department of Health programs will follow a furlough schedule that many other State departments will enact. Furlough Calendar B

Exceptions:

• The Hawaii State Hospital, the Mental Health Access Line, Kalaupapa, and Hale Mohalu Hospital will remain open, with staff members rotating furlough days.



• Community Mental Health Centers will follow Furlough Calendar E.



• The Kauai Family Guidance Center who works very closely with the Dept. of Education will follow the State Dept of Education Furlough Schedule for 12 month HGEA Employees. However, all other Family Guidance Centers will follow Furlough Schedule B.

Marriage Licenses

Couples seeking to get a marriage license on days when the Dept. of Health is closed may contact private marriage agents contracted by the Dept. of Health. Call one of the Dept. of Health offices during normal working hours to get in touch with a private marriage agent:

WIC Clinics The Honolulu WIC clinic located near Restaurant Row, the Leeward WIC clinic located in the Waipahu Civic Center and the Windward WIC Clinic in Kaneohe will be closed on furlough days. All other WIC clinics run by the Hawai‘i State Department of Health’s (DOH) Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program will operate with minimal staff.
