School-Based Injury Prevention

The development of health education standards by the Department of Education (DOE) has provided an opportunity to integrate injury prevention into the general curriculum and support the need for consistent health and safety education. Through the American Cancer Society-sponsored Comprehensive School Health Program, the Injury Prevention and Control Program (IPCP) has participated in statewide teacher training and is collaborating with the Keiki Injury Prevention Coalition/SAFE KIDS Hawai‘i and partner agencies and community organizations to provide injury prevention resources to schools.
