The Hawaii State Department of Health is pleased to announce the merger of the Hawaii Journal of Public Health and the Hawaii Medical Journal effective January 1, 2012. The new journal, Hawaii Journal of Medicine & Public Health, is supported by the Hawaii State Department of Health, University of Hawaii Office of Public Health Studies, University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, and University Clinical, Education & Research Associates. It is well-poised to cover the full spectrum of health-related topics in Hawaii and the Pacific, from community-based prevention and health promotion efforts through end of life treatment and care-giving, and is in alignment with a growing trend towards the integration of clinical and public health practice.
The monthly journal is fully indexed in PubMed Central, and articles published will be accessible to researchers and public health practitioners world wide at no cost. It is our hope that the combined journal will attract greater readership, and a larger variety of contributions from the public health and medical community in Hawaii and the Pacific. We also encourage submissions on all topics related to our region or to the health of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Island populations residing elsewhere.
