Water Pollution Section


The Water Pollution Section provides analytical services to DOH agencies responsible
for the restoration and maintenance of the physical, chemical, and biological integrity
of the state’s surface and ocean waters to meet national and state goals.

Our customers include the Clean Water Branch Monitoring and Enforcement Sections, the
Environmental Planning Office, the Sanitation Branch, and the Wastewater Branch.

    MONITORING STREAM WATERS AND
    COASTAL WATERS FOR:


    • Ammonia-nitrogen

    • Chlorophyll-a

    • Dissolved Silica

    • Nitrate + Nitrite-Nitrogen

    • Salinity

    • Total Nitrogen

    • Total Phosphorus

    • Total Suspended Solids

    • Turbidity

    MONITORING WASTEWATERS FOR:

    • 5-Day biological oxygen demand (BOD)

    • Fluourescein (spill indicator dye)

    • Oil and Grease

    • Select Metals
