Mental health services can be accessed by calling your nearest Department of Health (DOH) Family Guidance Center (FGC) which are located on
every island.
Family Guidance Center staff will assist families with the process of determining whether their child is eligible
for DOH services or whether their child can be better helped by other agencies.
Eligible young people will be registered at the Family Guidance Center, and a Mental Health Care Coordinator (MHCC) will be assigned to help
with the process of obtaining needed services.
Parent Partners, of the Hawaii Families as Allies, are contacted through the DOH Family Guidance Centers. You may request
the aid of a Parent Partner who will work with you and help guide you through the process of getting the help that you need.
Call the main number of your local Family Guidance Center, and ask to speak to the intake coordinator:
Special services to help children in school can be gotten by contacting your child's Department of Education teacher, student support
services coordinator, or administrator. The Department of Education (DOE) website has information on the Comprehensive Student Support
System (CSSS) and about School-Based Behavioral Health (SBBH) services which can be obtained in schools.
