GM 299, STATEWIDE HEALTH COORDINATING COUNCIL
Mr. Clifton Tsuji, from Hilo, Hawai`i, is with the Central Pacific Bank. He has a certificate in banking from the University of Washington as well as a bachelor's degree from the University of Hawai`i - Manoa. Mr. Tsuji is active in community volunteer work including the Chamber of Commerce and the Big Island Press Club. He is also a past member of the state hospital systems' management advisory council. With his banking background and work with the state's hospital system, Mr. Tsuji will be a fine addition to the SHCC.
Ms. Susan B. Hunt has a masters degree in hospital administration from the St. Louis University of Public Health as well as a graduate certificate in gerontology from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Ms. Hunt has a wide array of experience in the health care industry, most notably as the director of women's and pediatric outpatient services at the Kapi`olani Medical Center for Women and Children. Her health care career also includes positions with the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and Intermountain Health Care, Inc. Ms. Hunt is active with the Healthcare Executives Forum of Hawai`i and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Ms. Hunt will bring a much needed women's health perspective to the SHCC.
Mr. Timothy Johns is the vice president of real estate development at Amfac. He has a juris doctorate from the University of Southern California and a masters degree in economics from the same academic institution. Mr. Johns has served as legal counsel to the Nature Conservancy of Hawai`i and practiced with the firm of Carlsmith, Wichman, Case, Mukai & Ichiki. His community service activities are many and include the Legal Aid Society of Hawai`i, the Waipahu Community Association, the Rotary Club of West Pearl Harbor and the Hawaii D.A.R.E. Officers Association. He is a fellow of the Pacific Century Fellows Program's inaugural class. Mr. Johns' law background and knowledge of economics coupled with his development expertise will strengthen the SHCC's analytic capacities.
Ms. Noella Kong is the director of health and human services for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. She holds a masters degree from Brigham Young University - Provo and is a graduate of the Kamehameha Schools. Ms. Kong has a solid background in health care from both the nonprofit and for-profit perspectives. Earlier in her career, she served in management positions with Alu Like and the Straub Clinic and Hospital. Ms. Kong has been a vibrant member of the Windward Subarea Health Planning Council and her statewide knowledge of Native Hawaiian health data and issues will be of great resource to the SHCC.
Ms. Vivian Ho is the president and CEO of the Queen's International Corporation. She has a MBA in finance and international business from the University of Washington. Ms. Ho's career has focused on the future vision of health care. She has been a principal of the Paradigm Consulting Group and a consultant with Towers Perrin. She is active in community activities and serves on the boards of the Five Mountain Medical Community and the Mid Pacific Institute. With Hawai`i's strategic location in the Pacific, Ms. Ho's knowledge of international health care is crucial to the SHCC.
Mr. John S. Kaopua is the safety and training coordinator for Local 803. He is a graduate of the Honolulu Community College. Mr. Kaopua is active in his community, serving on the Nanakuli Community Policing program, the Wai`anae Neighborhood Board, the Nanakuli High School Drug Free Program, the Nanakuli Homestead Beautification Program, and the Nanakuli High School PTSA. He is also a board member of the Hawai`i Dental Service. Mr. Kaopua's experience in working with communities will be a welcome addition to the SHCC.
Mr. Leonard A. Rapozo, Sr. is with the Grove Farm Company on Kaua`i. He is a graduate of the Kaua`i Technical School. Active in his community, Mr. Rapoza is the president of the Kaua`i Football Officials Association. He has served on the Kaua`i Police Commission since 1990 and is active with the Immaculate Conception Church on Kauai. Mr. Rapozo is with the Hawai`i Air Guard and has been recognized as an arms expert and received a continuous service award. Mr. Rapozo will bring a needed neighbor island perspective to SHCC deliberations.
Mr. Edwin Ohta is the vice president of the Queen Emma Foundation. Mr. Ohta is a graduate of the University of Hawai`i - Manoa and is a certified public accountant. He was formerly the vice president, Bedford Properties of the Kaiser Development Company and was involved in the development of the Koko Marina Shopping Center amongst other notable developments on O`ahu. Prior to his work with Bedford, he was a CPA with Peat Marwick and Mitchell. Mr. Ohta's knowledge of health care from a developer's perspective and expertise in reviewing accounting information will bring a solid business perspective to the SHCC.
Ms. Sabrina R. Toma is an attorney with the firm of Torkildson, Katz, Fonseca, Jaffe, Moore and Hetherington. She is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and Cornell University. Ms. Toma has worked as legal counsel with the U.S. Department of Labor (Washington, D.C.), the National Education Association (Washington, D.C.), the U.S. Environmental Agency (Washington, D.C.) and the Hawai`i State Attorney General's Office. She is active with the YWCA of Honolulu, the Aloha United Way and other community organizations. Ms. Toma's law background will be of great benefit to the SHCC, especially combined with her community work in the nonprofit sector.
Mr. Hideo Matsushita is with the Hawai`i Medical Services Association and is being reappointed to the SHCC. Mr. Matsushita is a graduate of New York University and is a certified public accountant. He has been an outstanding member of the SHCC, sharing his knowledge of financial analysis and knowledge of Hawai`i health care trends from the perspective of a health plan administrator. He is active with taxation issues as well as medical group management strategies. Mr. Matsushita has been an active member of the SHCC and his attendance at meetings has been excellent. We welcome him back enthusiastically.
Mr. Randolph Perreira is a field services officer with HGEA/AFSME. He holds a MBA from the Michigan State University. Mr. Perreira is being reappointed in the SHCC. His view of health care from the union's perspective has been an important one, especially at a time when the health care industry nationwide is in a state of major transition. Mr. Perreira's insightful comments and balanced analysis of health care issues have brought a well reasoned view to the SHCC in it deliberations. Mr. Perreira is active with the Notre Dame Club of Hawai`i and is a fellow of the Pacific Century Fellows Program. We are very happy to have him reappointed to the SHCC.
Mr. Merle A. Ryland is with New Horizon Healthcare Partners, a health care management and advisory firm designed to pursue projects in Hawai`i, the Western Pacific and Asia. He is also the managing director of health care finance with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. He has a masters of science degree from the University of California-Los Angeles in health policy and planning with an emphasis in finance. Prior to joining New Horizon, he was the chief financial officer of the Straub Clinic and Hospital. Mr. Ryland's extensive background in health care in the United States and abroad will enhance the SHCC's ability to analyze health care development in our state.
Mr. Peter Lewis is a vice president with the Hawaiian Electric Company/Hawaiian Electric Industries. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia Law School and Williams College. Mr. Lewis is active with Hawai`i's nonprofit community. He served as past president of the Institute for Human Services (IHS) and the Neighborhood Justice Center. He has held a keen interest in health care and served on several health care committees in the past. Mr. Lewis will bring the private sector perspective to the SHCC. This along with his background in law and Hawai`i's nonprofit sector will be greatly appreciated by the SHCC.

GM 300, HONOLULU SUBAREA HEALTH PLANNING COUNCIL
Mr. Mark Taylor is with First Hawaiian Bank in planning and development. He has a masters degree from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and is a graduate of Princeton University. Mr. Taylor has served with the Executive Office of the President as a policy and budget analyst in the Office of Management and Budget (Washington, D.C.) He is active with community organizations, most notably his alma mater, Moanalua High School and is also a member of the Neighborhood Board (Salt Lake/Aliamanu/Foster Village). He is a fellow of the Pacific Century Fellows Program. Mr. Taylor's background in policy analysis and finance will greatly enhance the Honolulu SAC.
Mr. Scott O'Brien is the president of Hawai`i Commercial - Commercial Real Estate Services. He holds a bachelors degree from the San Diego State University and has done post-graduate work at Golden State University. Mr. O'Brien has been active in the commercial real estate industry. Past positions include those with Chaney, Brooks and Company; Grubb and Ellis Company; and Walker and Associates. Mr. O'Brien's knowledge of real estate practices will make him a good representative of the private sector on the Honolulu SAC.
Mr. Donn Takaki is vice president of Island Movers. He has a MBA from the University of Virginia and is also a graduate of Claremont McKenna. Mr. Takaki has a diverse background. He was an assistant English teacher in Kyoto, Japan and interned with the Bank of Hawai`i as well as the Office of Congressman Daniel Akaka in Washington, D.C. He is a fellow with the Pacific Century Fellows Program. Mr. Takaki's perspective of health care from the private sector perspective and the impact of health care costs on business in Hawai`i will be most welcomed to the Honolulu SAC.
Ms. Deborah Morikawa is an independent contractor, actively establishing a school for children with special needs. She is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis. Ms. Morikawa was the executive director of the Institute for Human Services and lead the organization through its expansion to new facilities. She has received recognition for her leadership in the nonprofit sector from the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation. In addition, she has been recognized by the Hawai`i Jaycees (three awards) for her outstanding achievements. She is also a fellow of the Pacific Century Fellows Program. Ms. Morikawa's expertise and understanding of the importance of access to health care for the uninsured will be a solid resource for the Honolulu SAC.

GM 301, CENTRAL OAHU SUBAREA HEALTH PLANNING COUNCIL
Ms. Lenora Lorenzo is a nurse with the Haleiwa Family Medical Clinic. She has a master of science degree from Central Michigan University and a bachelor's degree (magna cum laude) in nursing from the University of Hawai`i. Ms. Lorenzo is being reappointed to the Central Oahu SAC. She has been recognized for excellence in nursing practice by the Hawaii Nurses Association and has also received recognition for her accomplishments from the Honolulu Advertiser and the Wahiawa General Hospital. We are excited that she has been reappointed to the Central Oahu SAC.
Mr. Creighton Liu is a senior planning consultant with the Bank of Hawai`i. A graduate of the University of Hawai`i -- Manoa, Mr. Liu has extensive experience in planning from his former positions with the Kapiolani Health System, Sea-Land Service, HMSA and Servco Pacific, Inc. While at Kapiolani, Mr. Liu was a key participant with SHPDA in the first redesign steps of the state's Health Services and Facilities Plan. Mr. Liu's comprehensive knowledge of health issues statewide will benefit the Central Oahu SAC.
Ms. Patricia St. John-Payne is being reappointed to the Central Oahu SAC. Ms. St. John-Payne is a manager with the Hawai`i Medical Services Association (HMSA). A graduate of the Golden West Community College, she has a solid background in health care and hospital consulting. She is active with the Medical Group Management Association (both the national and Hawaii chapters). Ms. St. John-Payne has consistently been a great resource to the Central Oahu SAC and we are most happy to have her reappointed.

GM 302, WAI`ANAE COAST SUBAREA HEALTH PLANNING COUNCIL
Ms. Bette Larrabee is being reappointed to the Wai`anae SAC. Ms. Larrabee is a retired financial planner and has a degree in personnel management. She is active with the AARP (Hawaii Chapter), the American Legion and the Navy League. Ms. Larrabee has served as the chairperson of the Wai`anae SAC for the past year and we are happy that she is being reappointed to the SAC.
Ms. Airleen Lucero is another member being reappointed to the Wai`anae SAC. Ms. Lucero is with the Wai`anae Comprehensive Health Center, assisting people with their QUEST application forms. She has also worked for the Department of Human Services in their Nanakuli Unit and for State Farm Insurance. She is active with the Peace Education in Schools program and the Wai`anae Neighborhood Board. We welcome Ms. Lucero's reappointment to the Wai`anae SAC.
Ms. Joan Lee Mars has a masters of science degree in counseling psychology from Chaminade University. She is being reappointed to the Wai`anae SAC. Ms. Mars' ability to represent community interests and concerns have been appreciated by her fellow members of the SAC. Her comments and participation in meetings reflect her caring of her neighborhood and the importance of health care for her area. We welcome her reappointment.

GM 303, WINDWARD OAHU SUBAREA HEALTH PLANNING COUNCIL
Mr. Jerome O. Manning is with the information systems department at the Hawai`i Medical Services Association (HMSA). He has a master of science degree in systems management from the University of Southern California and is a graduate of Iolani School. Prior to his position with HMSA, Mr. Manning served with the U.S. Air Force in Pacific-wide data and voice networks. He has been decorated with their commendation medal (twice), their Meritorious Service Medal (twice) and the Defense Meritorious Medal. Mr. Manning is being reappointed to the Windward SAC. His heartfelt and insightful contributions are very appreciated by all.
Ms. Carol Odo is the project development coordinator for Ke Ola Mamo (Native Hawaiian Health Care) Oahu. She has a Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Hawai`i -- Manoa as well as a degree from the University of California -- Berkeley. Ms. Odo is active in the Windward area, with the Koolauloa Community Council and the Hauula Community Association. She was also formerly employed with the Kahuku Hospital. Ms. Odo's knowledge of Native Hawaiian health resources and her respected involvement in Windward community activities make her an outstanding appointment to the Windward SAC.
Mr. Hans Taala is the Brigham Young University -- Laie. He holds a masters degree from the Webster University in management. Mr. Taala is a reappointment to the Windward SAC. Prior to his employment with BYU -- Laie, Mr. Taala served a distinguished career with the U.S. Army as a company commander, an assistant chaplain and operation/training manager. He is also active with the Samoan community as well as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We welcome Mr. Taala's reappointment to the Windward SAC. His past contributions and participation in SAC activities have been commendable.
Ms. Claudine Tomasa is with the Hawai`i Nurses Association. She holds a degree from the University of Hawaii -- Manoa. Ms. Tomasa has been a truly inspiring member of the Windward SAC and we wholeheartedly welcome her reappointment. She is active with the PTSA of Kalaheo High School and is also a merit badge counselor with the Boy Scouts of America -- Aloha Council. Ms. Tomasa brings a valued nurses perspective to the Windward SAC.

Ms. Renee Kusano is with the Hawai`i County Economic Opportunity Council. She is an accountant and a graduate of the University of Hawai`i -- Hilo. She has also worked with the Burke Company and the United States Air Force as an emergency medical technician. A life long resident of Hilo, Ms. Kusano's community and economic opportunity development views will benefit the Hawai`i County Subarea Health Planning Council.
Mr. Lito Asuncion is being reappointed to the Hawai`i County SAC. He has a masters in public health and a masters in sociology from the University of Hawai`i -- Manoa. He is a program specialist with the Office of Aging and also was a research statistician with the Department of Health. He is active with the Big Island Filipino Council, the Sariling Gawa Leadership Training for Filipino Young Adults, and the National Council of Aging. Mr. Asuncion has been a vibrant member of the Hawai`i County SAC and we welcome his reappointment.
Mr. Patrick Linton is the CEO of the North Hawai`i Community Hospital. He has a masters degree in hospital administration from the University of Minnesota. Mr. Linton has also served in a senior management capacity with community hospitals in Arizona, Wisconsin, Colorado and Minnesota. He has been an outstanding member of the Hawai`i County SAC and also serves on SHPDA's Plan Development Committee. His reappointment to the SAC will insure that his planning expertise will continue to be shared with the council.
Mr. Wayne Shirota is being reappointed to the Hawai`i County SAC. A graduate of Hilo High School, Mr. Shirota is currently the assistant manager of Western Auto in Hilo. He has also been employed by Jack's Tours, Big Island Koa and the Orchid Isle Auto Center. He has been a thoughtful and diligent member of the council and has represented the consumer's view of health care well. We welcome him back to the SAC.

Mr. Herbert A. K. Campos is the branch manager of the Hawaii Medical Services Association (HMSA) for Maui County. He is being reappointed to the Tri-Isle SAC. Mr. Campos has been a well respected and active member of his community. In addition to being the retired fire chief of Maui, he has also been active with the Rotary Club, the Hospice Maui, the Boy Scouts Maui and is a planning committee member of Hui No Ke Ola Pono. His diverse and rich community background make Mr. Campos an outstanding member of the SAC and we truly welcome his reappointment.
Ms. H. Jeanne Kenlon is with Kaiser Permanente -- Wailuku. She is a graduate of Cypress College and the O'Connor Hospital School of Nursing. She is active in the community with the Maui Christian Women's Club, the Maui Arts and Culture Center, the Kihei Library and Women Helping Women and other community organizations. Her background in nursing and her knowledge of community affairs from a volunteer's perspective will enrich the Tri-Isle SAC.
