Airport Construction

EDS Integration Improvements, Phase II

Will upgrade security standards and expedite the flow of passengers through the security check-in process.  Will provide a fully-integrated, enhanced baggage security screening system capable of detecting explosives, weapons and other contraband materials for the protection of air travelers  A new series of conveyors will rapidly transport luggage from the ticketing counter through a baggage screening system located in the operation area of the airport.  Estimated Completion: January 4, 2013.  Contact: 838-8831.

Access Control and CCTV System Upgrade

Installation of an integrated access control system, video monitoring system, raceway, cables and related work throughout HNL.  Work began: February 23, 2009.  Estimated completion: April 2013. Project Manager: 838-8846.

Emergency Power Facility

Construction of a new emergency power facility including site preparation, architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, electrical power generating equipment and related work necessary to support the operation of emergency power generators.  The primary purpose of this facility is providing emergency power to the prioritized airport electrical loads within five minutes of a utility grid outage.  Work began: September 15, 2011.  Estimated completion: March 2013. Recently Completed

OST Chiller Plant Replacement

Construction of a new chilled water loop to interconnect the Ewa, Overseas Terminal and Diamond Head chiller plants. Work includes new chiller water piping and insulation, pipe supports, metal canopy roof structure, concrete coring, concrete rehabilitation work, structural steel, waterporoofing elastomeric deck coating, flashing and sheet metal, sealants, painting, drainage and other related work.  Work began: June 19, 2009.  Estimated completion:June 30, 2012.  Project manager: 838-8807.

Central Concourse Spall Repairs, Drain Repairs & Re-Roofing

Replacement of existing reroofing membrane with new 3-ply SBS roof membrane; the relocation and remounting of roof mounted antennas, conduit, and antenna wiring; concrete rehabilitation at concrete parapet walls; reinforced fluid-applied waterproofing at the parapet walls and metal roofs; and other related work.  Work began: January 3, 2011.  Estimated completion: 450 days.  Project Manager: 838-8822.

Escalator Improvements

Removal of old escalators and installation of new escalators at various locations in the Overseas Terminal and other related work.  Work began: September 28, 2009.  Estimated completion: July 30, 2012. Project Manager: 838-6068.

Sterile Corridor

Construction of an enclosed sterile corridor for arriving international passengers with moving walkways and electrical rooms over portions of the existing third level elevated roadways of the Ewa Concourse, Ewa connecting link and the Ewa extension of the Overseas Terminal and modifications to portions of the third level roadway between the Overseas Terminal and the Interisland Terminal.  Work also includes an exit stairs and interior work on the second and third levels of the Ewa Concourse at Gates 26 to 30. Work began: February 19, 2008.  Estimated completion: Spring 2012.  Project manager: 838-8866.

Ewa Pedestrian Breezeway Restoration

Restores the tile/concrete surface of the walkway with custom designed tiles telling the story of voyaging in Hawaii. Work began May 2011.  Project manager: 836-6091.

Replace Canopy, International Arrivals Building Transportation Court

Replaces canopies in the parking area.  35% complete.  Contact: 838-8822.

Hawaiian Airlines Ticket Lobby Reconfiguration

Work began January 31, 2011.  Estimated completion: June 2011.  Project Manager: 630-9299.

Interisland Maintenance Facility Site Preparation

Replace the existing sump pump, add a hose bib in the utility enclosure, add a drain bypass line, fix surface drainage and restripe an area adjacent to Taxiways G & L.  Work began: February 28, 2011.  Estimated completion: March 18.

Replacement of Passenger Loading Bridges Phase 3

Replace loading bridges at Gates 26A and B, Gates 27A and B, and Gates 28A and B on the Ewa Concourse; and Gate 6, Gates 7A and B, Gates 9A and B, Gates 10A and B, and Gates 11A and B on the Diamond Head Concourse. Work began July 1, 2009.  Estimated Completion February 11, 2011.  Project Manager: 838-8807.

Commuter Tenant Relocation - Phase I

Selective removal work, structural steel, finish carpentry and cabinet work, acrylic fluid applied roofing system, steel doors, architectural finishes, building specialities, membrane roofing for pre-engineered structure, plumbing, air conditioning, fire sprinkler system and alarm, electrical work and other related work.  Work began: August 2, 2010.  Estimated completion: September 23, 2010.  Contact: 838-8868.

Airfield Electrical Vault

Construction of an airfield electrical vault near the end of Lagoon Drive to improve the reliability of the airfield lighting and control system.  Work also includes electrical duct lines to Vault X, switchgear regulator system, airfield lighting control and monitoring system, new cables for airfield lighting circuits and related work.  Work Began: February 19, 2008.  Estimated completion: December 2009.  Project manager: 838-8846.

Interisland Maintenance Facility Site Preparation

Site preparation work for the new facility includes grading, drainage and other utility infrastructure improvements and concrete hardstands.  Construction of a concrete aircraft hardstand and related infrastructure including stormwater drainage systems, area lighting, field power, aircraft ground power system, fuel hydrant pit sytem extensions, security fencing, asphalt paving and aircraft parking position lead in lines and safety striping. Air Conditioning Modifications Phase II Common Chilled Water Loop

AARF Facililty Improvements, Phase I

Installation of additional pavement adjacent to the existing roadway to ARFF Station No. 2 and Taxiway RA.  This work is necessary to increase the turning radius at the corners of the road to allow for quicker turning of the ARFF vehicles.  Work began November 27, 2008.  Estimated completion: May 29, 2009. Spall Repairs

Repair spalls in the upper and lower roadways fronting the Overseas Terminal and selected locations within the Interisland Terminal parking structure.  The project also repairs/replaces damaged soffit in the overhead walkway cover fronting the Overseas Terminal.  Work began: August 25, 2008.  Project manager: 838-8804.

Parking Lot A (International Terminal)

Construction of a new 1,800 stall parking lot is underway.  The lot is located between the Interisland and Overseas parking structures.  Work began: April 23, 2007.  Dedication held February 17, 2009.  Project Manager: 838-8868.

Passenger Loading Bridge Replacement

Replace bridges at Gates 8, 12, 13, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25.  Work began: February 4, 2008.  Completion: February 13, 2009.  Project manager: 838-8807.

 

Building Renovation, Air Conditioning of Vault Y and Skylight Removal

Recoating, repainting on skylights in International Arrivals Building.  Renovation of restrooms and air conditioning in Building 206; Work on Vault Y.  Project Manager; 838-8847.
