Current periodicals are shelved alphabetically by title in the Hawaii State Library's Periodicals Room. Generally, the latest year or the most recent twelve issues of a title are displayed. Weekly publications, however, are kept in the Periodicals Room for only three months. Selected titles are shelved in special collections throughout the Library as shown by the location abbreviation in the far right hand column of the ALPHABETICAL LIST.
Note that back issues in print form are shelved in Storage behind the Periodicals Room Reference/Service Desk and are available upon request.
MICROFILM COLLECTIONS
Microfilm periodicals and newspapers are arranged alphabetically by title in movable cabinets in the Periodicals Room. The Library also carries the MAGAZINE COLLECTION and the BUSINESS COLLECTION microfilm cartridges from late 1985 to roughly mid-1995. These are arranged by cartridge number (for example, 42A) in the cabinets at the end of the alphabet.
