OCS attends Annual WIPFLi Management Conference

The 10th Annual WIPFLi Management Conference was held in Las Vegas, Nevada from July 6 through July 10, 2009. WIPFLi is a multi-regional professional services firm. They are one of the largest accounting firms in the United States. The majority of their clients are middle market companies who benefit from a range of consulting services that improve their financial situation and overall operation. WIPFLi places a particular focus on specific industries, including construction/real estate, finance institutions, health care, nonprofits and manufacturing /distribution. This particular conference focused on the non-profits, grant-funded programs.

With over a thousand attendees, the conference was well attended by a variety of executive directors, administrators, program specialists, fiscal and human resource personnel and board members. The purpose of attending this conference for non-profit, grant-funded programs was to obtain a comprehensive training in the following categories: Finance and Accounting, Management, Head Start, Human Services, Information Technology, Sage MIP Fund Accounting Tools and Other Solutions.

Because fiscal monitoring is an essential function as administrators of state and federal funds, OCS attended most of the financial related sessions. They included: Financial Analysis, Preparing for the Audit, How an Auditor Looks at Internal Controls, Conducting an HR Review, Future GAAP – An Introduction to IFRS, Implementing an Internal Audit Function.

The conference was most beneficial to all of the executive directors, board members, program administrators and fiscal officers of the grant funded nonprofits.
