Awarding the Grant

When OCS awards a grant, it is formalizing its partnership with the service provider  (grantee) to ensure compliance with federal laws, regulations and policies. Timely and effective communication between a grantee and OCS is critical throughout the process.

OCS will post a notice of award (NoA), with service providers who will receive what specific amount of funding in compliance with the laws, regulations, and administrative policies.  The NoA is the legal document issued to notify the grantee that an award has been made and that funds may be requested from OCS.

In accepting the award, the terms and conditions are accepted by drawing or requesting funds or upon endorsement.

The process of producing the contract begins and after the negotiation and drafting and approval, there are some things to keep in mind:

The grantees are responsible for managing their grant as stewards of OCS funds, and are required to participate in OCS' active monitoring and reporting processes.
