The Legislative Reference Bureau (LRB) maintains a reference library for use by the Hawaii state legislature and its legislative service agencies. Subject to priorities established by the LRB director, reference materials may be made available to the various departments and agencies of the State of Hawaii and the general public. Hawaii Revised Statutes, section 23G-3 (6).

LRB Library is open to the public and material may be borrowed upon presentation of valid identification. For details of our borrowing policy, see our web site: http://www.state.hi.us/lrb/borpol.html.

interlibrary loans

Interlibrary loan may be arranged by calling (808) 587-0690. Documents in the collection are not loaned to other organizations or individuals via mail. For information on requests for legislative material, see our web site: http://www.state.hi.us/lrb/mailfax.html.

reference requests

LRB research librarians provide reference and research assistance in the library and over the telephone. Members and staff of the Hawaii legislature are given priority. Email requests from other state legislatures are welcome and we will attempt to reply expeditiously. We regret, however, that email requests for assistance from other offices and individuals will be addressed only if pertinent to this office and if time allows.

Attorneys and others seeking legal material and legislative histories may call the Supreme Court Law Library at (808) 539-4964. For information on the State of Hawaii generally, please call the Hawaii State Library, Hawaii & Pacific Section, at (808) 586-3535.
