The Library of
Congress serves as the research arm of Congress. It is also the
largest library in the world, with more than 120 million items on
approximately 530 miles of bookshelves. The collections include more than
18 million books, 2.5 million recordings, 12 million photographs, 4.5
million maps, and 54 million manuscripts.
U.S.
Government Printing Office (GPO) The GPO prints, binds, and distributes the publications of the Congress as
well as the executive departments and establishments of the Federal Government.
Includes a list and description of databases available via GPO Access (e.g. Congressional
Bills, Federal Register, etc.).
General Accounting Office (GAO)
The investigative arm of Congress, GAO conducts audits and evaluations
of government programs and activities. Online reports in text and PDF
formats.
