"Where's the one website I should run to for all sorts of fast information?"
The Hawaii State Legislature's website - www.capitol.hawaii.gov
From there, it's as simple as clicking on the links...
- Find your legislators - 'Legislative
Information' then 'Find Legislators.' Just enter your county and street - results
will provide you with the name of your senator and representative, and
links to their contact information.
- Who's on which committees - 'House'
or 'Senate' then 'Committees.'
- Find the bill that interests you - 'Bill Status and
Documents' then 'Text
Search.' Enter a search term and review results to find the bill
number. (Call or email PAR if you need assistance refining your search.)
Or, check out the lists near the bottom of the 'Bill Status and
Documents' page. This is a handy way to review all measures
introduced, or those that have survived certain deadlines.
- Keep track of a bill - 'Bill Status and
Documents,' enter bill number (leave out any draft numbers) in top
box, then open 'Status' link to view ongoing activity. (If you're
tracking lots of measures, contact PAR for some handy shortcuts.)
- Find a hearing notice - 'Bill Status and
Documents,' go to 'Hearing Notices' box, enter bill number.
- Submit testimony (about a specific bill) - 'Bill Status and
Documents,' go to 'Hearing Notices' box, click 'Submit testimony
online' and enter bill number.
- What the law says about a topic - 'Hawaii
Revised Statutes' then enter search term.
