Good health, good business

The State Department of Health Healthy Hawai`i Initiative on Tuesday is hosting its 2nd Physical Activity and Nutrition Summit. The Lt. Governor will discuss the obesity epidemic and how worksite wellness programs can positively affect Hawai`i's quality of life. The event will provide examples of local businesses that are successfully implementing worksite wellness programs. Worksite wellness can create large-scale improvements in the health of workers and show a significant return on investment for Hawai`i businesses.

In addition, the conference will:

•    Highlight programs that are addressing components of the Hawai`i Physical Activity and Nutrition Plan

•    Educate and inform participants of local and national trends, policies and best practices in nutrition and physical activity

•    Educate and inform participants of the national trends in worksite wellness programs

•    Provide updates on the accomplishments of the State and County Nutrition and Physical Activity Coalitions

•    Share data and research regarding physical activity and nutrition
