LT. GOVERNOR PRAISES CHOICE OF CHIEF JUDGE

For Immediate Release: July 22, 2009

Lt. Governor James R. "Duke" Aiona, Jr. today issued the following statement regarding Governor Lingle's selection of Craig H. Nakamura to serve as chief judge of the Hawai`i Intermediate Court of Appeals:

“As a former state judge, I know firsthand the importance of maintaining a well-qualified and skilled judiciary.

“Judge Nakamura’s knowledge and experience, both as a trial lawyer and appellate judge, make him an excellent choice to serve as chief judge of the Hawai`i Intermediate Court of Appeals.

“Like his predecessor, Judge Nakamura will continue to successfully administer Hawai`i’s second-highest court and its emerging influence upon our system of jurisprudence.”
