HURRICANE SEASON LASTS FROM JUNE - NOVEMBER
During the 2008 hurricane season, which runs from June 1 - November 30, Governor Lingle and Lt. Governor Aiona are encouraging Hawai`i residents to be prepared. Visit links on this website to learn important information about preparedness, including forecast and readiness websites.
PLANNING AND PREPARING FOR DISASTER
Having a disaster emergency response plan for yourself, as well as your family and pets, is important. Many disasters like earthquakes, locally generated tsunamis, and others will leave you with very little time to react. Know what resources are available to you beforehand, and develop a plan to ensure that all of your family members know what to do and are accounted for. Visit ready.gov for information on what to include inside of your disaster preparedness kit and for ideas to create a family disaster emergency response plan.
