Top State Employees Honored
Lt. Governor Aiona helped honor the state's top employees during the Administration's annual awards ceremony at the State Capitol.
Aaron Ueno, acting Hawai‘i district health officer, was named State Manager of the Year, and Dexter Cho, pest control technician at the Department of Agriculture, won State Employee of the Year.
Also, the Department of Transportation’s Airports Division Photovoltaic Engineering Team was named the State Team of the Year.
“These awards recognize that state government is about more than departments, divisions, branches or buildings,” Lt. Governor Aiona said. “State government in Hawai‘i is also about people who are doing what they can to better serve their fellow citizens.”
The winners of the 2008 Governor’s Awards were selected from 54 nominees, including 17 teams made up of 172 state employees.
The Governor’s Awards were designed to honor executive branch employees, managers and work teams for excelling at serving the people of Hawai‘i.
