Lt. Governor and Mrs. Aiona were credited with providing enthusiastic support for an annual fundraiser organized by Hawai`i Council on Portuguese Heritage.
On their 28th wedding anniversary, they spent part of day in Ala Moana Park selling their homemade Portuguese Bean Soup to raise money for charity.
The annual cultural event drew an estimated 3,000 people and raised more than $20,000 for charities supported by the Hawai`i Council on Portuguese Heritage.
The Lt. Governor, who is part Portuguese, has actively participated in the Portuguese Festa for several years.
