Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs

Lt. Governor Aiona on Friday will participate in the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs' (AHCC) 50th Annual Convention on Maui. Comprised of 55 organizations, AHCC unifies and provides a platform for native Hawaiians to address issues at city, state and federal levels. In addition, the organization preserves and perpetuates the rich Hawaiian culture through dance, music and Hawaiian language and history education.

Each year, members participating in the annual convention discuss issues that affect native Hawaiians such as economic development, health and housing.  This year's theme, "Aloha `Aina," emphasizes the unique relationship between Hawaiians and the land.

Organizations like the AHCC are important, not only to native Hawaiians, but to all the people of Hawai`i, as they preserve the past and build a brighter future for the state.
