This week, Lt. Governor Aiona helped launch a competition designed to identify the fittest executives in Hawai`i.
The effort was led by Hawai`i Business magazine, which teamed up with the Medical Corner, Honolulu Club and the American Heart Association for the competition that will take place throughout June and attempt to recognize top management as role models for healthy living.
At a news conference held to publicize the event, Lt. Governor Aiona said that the competition helps counter health risks such as heart disease, which remains the leading cause of death in Hawai`i. "Studies show 230 people die in Hawai`i each year from heart disease,"Lt. Governor Aiona said. "We must take steps to increase physical activity and improve nutrition. By fostering a healthy workplace, you'll help people live better lives and strengthen your own business."
