This month, Lt. Governor Aiona is encouraging residents to help protect Hawai`i's humpback whales for future generations.
The Lt. Governor's outreach is part of "Humpback Whale Awareness Month" in Hawai`i, home to the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary.
The sanctuary is considered the only marine protected area in the nation solely devoted to humpback whale protection.
Earlier this month, Lt. Governor Aiona co-signed a proclamation with Governor Lingle, declaring February as "Humpback Whale Awareness Month" in the state.
